Scottish rugby legend, Tony Stanger, knows how to meet a challenge as the player responsible for one of the country’s most celebrated sporting highlights. Stanger posed for pictures at this week’s Perth and Kinross Coach Development event with a suitably impressed Perth Kilt Run mascot who will lead the city’s attempt to secure the kilt race world record on 10th August.

A new mysterious figure has emerged from the early morning mists on Perth’s North Inch … a kilted mascot with a mission but without a name.
Limbering up at the site of this year’s race, the kilted colossus was greeted by Provost, Liz Grant, and four of Perth and Kinross’ young Ultimate Sports Leaders for his first training run ahead of the Perth Kilt Run on Saturday, 10th August.

Top Scottish comedian and presenter Fred MacAulay added his support to Perth Kilt Run this week, calling for Scots to get behind the nation’s forthcoming world record attempt.

An attempt to break the official Guinness world record for the 'Largest Ever Kilt Race' is to be held in Perth as part of this summer's local Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
It is hoped that around 2,000 entrants dressed in kilts and decked in tartan will take part in the fun run, beating the world record currently held by Perth's twin town in Ontario, Canada.

With Scotland’s attempt to beat the World Record for the most people running in kilts just 3 months away, Perth Kilt Run’s partner charities have linked up with event organiser Steve Bonthrone to enable as many people as possible to train for the 8km fun run.
