FAQs

When and where

The 2016 5km Perth Kilt Run and the Touch of Tartan Half-Marathon Run will be held in Perth, Scotland on Saturday 13 August 2016.

About the Perth Kilt Run

What is the route? It is a 5k flat course which starts and ends on the North Inch travelling along the pathway along the banks of the River Tay. You can find a map of the route on the Perth 5k Kilt Run page of this website.

Who can take part? The Kilt Run is open to everyone aged 5 and above (on the date of the race). Children between 5 and 15 must enter and take part with an accompanying adult (aged 16 or over). All entrants must wear a kilt to run the race.

Can I push a younger child in a buggy? Absolutely. Families can run while pushing a child under the age of 5 in a pram/buggy at no extra cost, although the child will not be counted in numbers of participants.

Can I bring my dog? Only guide dogs can accompany runners for safety reasons. Well behaved dogs are welcome to join family and friends cheering on the race competitors.

What is the kilt specification for the race? All runners must wear a plaid kilt. You can wear your own kilt or one you've borrowed or hired. We've broadened the types of kilts so mini kilts and light 'fashion' kilts can also be worn.

How do I enter? Registration is now open. Entry is £11.00 for adults and £6.00 for under 16s. Adult entries and under 16s entries MUST be made separately. Enter coupon code 5KU16 to receive discount for under 16s entries.

About the Touch of Tartan Half Marathon

What is the route? The route is a 13 mile half-marathon which will take place along pathways and roads and finish on the North Inch. You can find a map of the route on the Touch of Tartan Half Marathon Run page of this website.

Who can take part? The Touch of Tartan Half Marathon is open to anyone aged 18 and over. All entrants must wear a 'touch of tartan' to take part in the race.

What does a 'touch of tartan' mean? While you are free to wear a kilt to run the Half Marathon we suspect that most participants wouldn't want to run a full 13 miles wearing a kilt. Instead participants in the Half Marathon will be asked to have some form of tartan on display - this could be anything from a piece of ribbon to a t-shirt, head band or tartan socks. It's entirely up to you!

How do I enter?  We now have over 400 people signed up. Extra spaces have now been released, but when we reach 500 the race will be full! Registration is open now. Entry is £17.00 for adults, and you must be 18 or over to enter.
